St. Peter’s Rickman and Stevens Receive BEE Award

St. Peter’s Health presented BEE Awards to Certified Nursing Assistant Ryan Rickman and Physical Therapist Mary Stevens. A companion to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, the BEE Award is given to any exceptional general or professional St. Peter's staff member nominated by patients, family members or colleagues.

The patients and colleagues who nominated Rickman said his compassionate care and empathy make him stand out. One colleague overheard Rickman telling a patient, “Thank you for allowing me to take care of you.” A patient nomination said, “Ryan was so helpful when I had a hip replacement surgery. He was very careful and always asked how best he could help.”

The patient who nominated Stevens said she is an excellent example of how a Physical Therapist can change their patient’s lives. “Mary uses her listening and communication skills to allow each of her patients to know how important they are in her therapy sessions. She also learns other patient’s names and greets them with a smile and hello when they arrive.”
