It is the goal of our program to match individuals willing to share their time and talents with the right volunteer opportunity. We have many opportunities available throughout several areas.
We request that volunteers work one four-hour shift per week or as needed. Times shown below are a broad schedule, not shift expectations.

Covid-19 Surge Support
Can you mop, fold laundry, provide a smile, coffee or warm blanket? Do you have limited hours, but you want to help? Covid-19 Surge Support volunteers have a variety of essential tasks that St. Peter’s staff need help with. Come in for an hour or more, based on your time and our need, but we do request a minimum of a 40-hour total commitment. A Covid-19 Surge Support application, background check and attendance of an abbreviated New Employee Orientation are required.

Patient and Staff Services
This opportunity requires the volunteer to be able to walk distances, interact well with both patients and staff and have a positive outlook. Below are a variety of departments that have openings in the mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Observer in Dialysis
Volunteer either sits in a room with the patient or walks room-to-room observing patients for needle dislodgement and/or adverse events. Education is provided. May assist medical staff with other basic tasks as needed, when not observing patients. Must be friendly and customer service oriented and walk distances.
Shifts available Monday - Saturday between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, depending on days. (minimum 2-hour shifts)
Nutrition Services (deliver and pick up meals)
Deliver and pick up meal trays for patients in their rooms, help nutrition staff with stocking food supplies in patient areas and other duties as needed. Volunteers must be friendly and customer-service oriented, able to walk distances and do some light lifting and bending.
Shifts available Monday - Friday, 7 am - 1 pm or 4 pm - 7 pm (or any interval in-between).
Pharmacy (medication runner)
Serve as a ‘runner’ to pick up and deliver medications as directed from the main pharmacy to areas throughout the hospital and Broadway clinic. Must be friendly and able to walk distances in all types of weather.
Shifts available Monday - Friday, 7 am - 2 pm
Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit (department runner)
Serve as a ‘runner’ to pick up and deliver mail and printed documents and run telemetry orders or packs between the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Order forms electronically for processing and printing. Light cleaning as needed. Must be able to walk distances and computer experience is preferred.
Shifts available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
Environmental Services
Serve as an Ambassador, enter patient rooms, converse about Environmental Services (EVS) cleanliness expectations and perceptions, complete rounding tool and address immediate concerns to staff.
Shifts available 7 days a week, any time volunteers are available
Child Care Helper
Volunteers assist staff with caring for children or help with other tasks at our licensed child care center. Opportunities include arts and crafts, reading, cooking and more. Must be friendly and customer service oriented.
Shifts available Monday - Friday, depending on location (Pete's Place at the Regional Medical Center or Pete's Place North)
Guest Relations
Volunteers meet or visit with patients, may serve as an escort or waiting room attendant, check on visitor needs and assist staff with stocking or other duties as needed. Must be able to walk distances and be able to perform light lifting and bending. Friendly and customer service-oriented.

Monday - Friday, 9 am - 2 pm
Cancer Care
Monday - Friday, 9 am - 2 pm
Emergency Department
Shifts available 24/7
Food is Care
Volunteers pick up food boxes from our community partner organization and deliver them to program participants’ homes every other week. You will occasionally call program participants to notify them of delivery information changes. Occasional assistance with preparing Harvest of the Month educational activities and/or occasional assistance in the garden is required. Must have driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation. This volunteer opportunity would afford students the chance to cultivate their patient interaction skills.
Shifts are available every other Wednesday from 12 pm – 4 pm.
Patient Access and Greeter
Serves as a patient and visitor greeter and escort to various departments throughout the complex. Individuals must be friendly, outgoing and able to walk distances.

Monday - Friday, 7 am - 6 pm
Broadway
Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Customer Service and Sales
Serve as a cashier, provide customer service, stock shelves and provide light cleaning. Individuals should be friendly, outgoing and have attention to detail. The ability to sit and stand for periods of time is required.

Shifts available Monday - Friday, 10 am - 2 pm
Cafeteria
Shifts available 7-days a week, 7 am - 4 pm
Office Support
Assist with general office support based on individual department needs. Duties may include filing, opening and sorting mail, answering phones and other office support. Some computer experience is preferred, but not required.

Float and On-call Volunteer
This work is non-clinical and is based on individual project needs. Duties may include general clerical, mailings or promotional stuffing, greeter and event assistance, etc. Mobility is required and computer experience is preferred, but not required.
Shifts are as-needed with flexible schedules.
Laundry Support
Environmental Services
Assist the Environmental Services (EVS) staff with housekeeping, janitorial or laundry duties. Mobility and physical lifting is required.
7 days a week, 8 am - 6 pm

Volunteers provide help on an as-needed basis.
Golf Tournament
You can spend a day relaxing on the course for a great cause. Volunteers can help with registration, handing out player bags, or visiting with the players while watching for that prize-winning hole-in-one. More adventurous volunteers are also needed for the gambling holes and putting green contests.
St. Peter’s Hospital Association
Members of the Association support St. Peter’s Health by volunteering for projects which include the annual Holiday Sock Sew held each December, Valentine’s Luncheon and the Gift Shop. Hospice Volunteer Services
The mission of the St. Peter’s Hospice Volunteer program is to provide a supportive presence, offer comfort and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families. They are an integral part of the Hospice team. Volunteers must complete a background check and Hospice volunteer training. Volunteer services may include companionship, respite so that family members can have a break, as well as assistance with household tasks such as light housekeeping and meal preparation. Specialty volunteer services include massage, music, and recording life stories. Other volunteer opportunities include clerical work in the Hospice office and assisting with our Light A Life fund-raising event.
