St. Peter’s Health Registered Nurses Lindsey Howey, BSN, RN and Kristin Steinke, RN received DAISY Awards for Extraordinary Nurses. DAISY Awardees are selected quarterly from nominations submitted by St. Peter’s patients, their families and fellow colleagues.
Howey works in Same-Day Surgery, and the patients who nominated her wanted to recognize her for going the extra mile for their care. In one case, she stayed 30 minutes after her shift ended to make sure the patient and their family had everything they needed. “She truly made my stay one of the positive experiences I ever had in a hospital, and I am so grateful for the care that she showed.”
Steinke, a care manager who works in clinics, assists high-acuity patients with finding the resources they need and navigating the health system. The colleague who nominated her said, “Kristin is resourceful and kind beyond words, and her interpersonal skills build trust with patients who are really struggling.”
