A friend once told me that everyone has a story, and I believe most of us have more than one. My journey with St. Peter’s Health Hospice began in 2019, during my father’s final days. After experiencing various facilities, the remarkable care provided by St. Peter’s was a revelation. Their support was invaluable, offering comfort and dignity in his last moments.
When my mother’s health began to decline, I turned to St. Peter’s Hospice once again. Their team became an integral part of our lives, with nurses who felt like family and a social worker who helped me navigate the emotional challenges. Thanks to their unwavering support, I was able to care for my mom at home until her peaceful passing.
As the holiday season approaches, it’s a time to reflect on the love and support we’ve received and to honor those who have passed. At St. Peter’s Health Hospice, we are dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care, ensuring every individual experiences comfort, support, and love on their journey.
Our annual Light a Life fundraiser embodies this spirit of compassion and community. This event aims to make hospice care accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. Your support is crucial in making this possible. A tax-deductible contribution of any size directly impacts the lives of hospice patients and their families, bringing comfort, hope, and peace during the most challenging moments.
This year, we also remember Sister Elizabeth Ann Henry, a significant figure in our community who passed away. Sister Elizabeth was instrumental in enhancing hospice care, serving as a Home Health nurse and on the Surgical Floor until the age of 75. She developed the No One Dies Alone (NODA) program at St. Peter’s Health and remained its Vigil Coordinator until her recent illness. Her legacy continues to inspire us, and it was her last wish for donations to be made in her memory to the Dianne Armstrong Endowed Scholarship for Future Nurses.
